Bespoke Commission Terms

Last updated: 4 September 2026

These terms apply specifically to bespoke, made-to-measure, and personalised tailoring commissions with la Bowtique — including dinner suits, jackets, smoking jackets, and any garment made or altered to your individual specification. They apply alongside our general Terms & Conditions, and take precedence over them for anything covered here.

1. The Commissioning Process

A commission begins with an initial consultation, at which we discuss fit, fabric, and style, and take or confirm your measurements. A contract for your commission is formed once we've confirmed your order in writing (by email or WhatsApp) following that consultation, including the agreed price and specification.

2. Deposits and Payment

2.1 A non-refundable deposit is required to begin work on your commission, reflecting the cost of fabric ordering, cutting, and the bespoke labour committed from the outset.

2.2 Full payment is due before your finished garment is released to you.

3. Lead Times

3.1 Commissions are typically ready for final fitting within 6–8 weeks of your initial consultation, though this can vary with fabric availability and the complexity of the garment.

3.2 Lead times given at consultation are estimates, not guaranteed delivery dates. We'll let you know as soon as possible if we expect a delay.

3.3 If you need a garment for a fixed date (e.g. a wedding), tell us at consultation — we cannot guarantee a rushed turnaround, and this should be agreed explicitly before work begins.

4. Cancellation

4.1 Bespoke and made-to-measure garments are made to your individual specification and are therefore exempt from the standard 14-day consumer cancellation right under Regulation 28(1)(b) of the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.

4.2 If you wish to cancel a commission after work has begun:

  • Your deposit is non-refundable, as it covers costs and labour already committed.

4.3 We reserve the right to decline or discontinue a commission at our discretion, in which case any payment made for work not yet carried out will be refunded.

5. Fit and Alterations

5.1 At your final fitting, we will assess the fit and make any adjustments needed. Where alterations are required, we aim to complete these within 10 days.

5.2 A reasonable number of fitting-stage alterations are included in the commission price.

5.3 Garments are made to the measurements and fit preferences confirmed at consultation and fitting. Significant changes in body shape after collection (e.g. weight change) are not covered by these terms, though we're happy to discuss further alteration work separately.

6. Quality and Your Statutory Rights

Nothing in these terms affects your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015: your commissioned garment must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, and as described, and the tailoring service must be carried out with reasonable care and skill. If you believe a finished garment is faulty or doesn't match what was agreed at consultation, contact us as soon as possible so we can put it right.

7. Measurement and Fitting Records

With your consent, we retain your measurements and fitting notes on file to make future commissions more straightforward, without needing a repeat initial fitting. You can ask us to delete these records at any time by contacting contact@labowtique.com — see our Privacy Policy for more on how we handle this data.

8. International Consultations

Where a consultation or fitting takes place outside London at your request, any associated travel costs will be agreed with you in advance and are additional to the commission price.

9. Contact

Questions about an existing or prospective commission can be sent to contact@labowtique.com or via WhatsApp.
