I recently visited E.B. Meyrowitz in their Mayfair boutique to get myself a pair of bespoke glasses that work with black tie and evening.
When I sat down with Jamie, I had an idea in mind: black frames, something strong for anywhere. But beyond that, I left it in his hands. And honestly, I think it’s the best approach when you deal with specialists, whether it’s suits, shoes, shirts, or bow ties.
Jamie walked me through their collection while advising me on what would work best, and we settled on a Savile model in black with a series of subtle adjustments to make the frame work perfectly for me.
Why go bespoke for glasses? For me, it solves all the usual frustrations: glasses sliding down my nose, sitting unevenly because my ears aren’t level, or clashing with my hearing aid. Now the finer details. I like the top of the frame to sit neatly in line with my eyebrows. It’s subtle, but it makes all the difference.
Bespoke means everything is considered. And the result is a pair of black high-gloss frames with gold hardware to match the jewellery I wear, perfectly balanced, incredibly comfortable, and something I don’t have to adjust from the moment they go on in the morning.
